Me and Nick Farrow, president of QEST, at the Goldsmiths Craft and Design Awards, aka Jewellery Oscars! I won five awards including a silver for my design based on the Eden Project. Great night, it's so inspiring to see all the high quality craftsmanship.
A sneaky peak at the new Heritage and Habitat collection. Cut, filed, engraved, ready to be enamelled!
These are some of the wax carvings I made for Chalfen of London's new rain-forest collection. These will be cast in a selection of golds and silver with diamonds.
Very pleased to have received a certificate of excellence from the international arts and crafts design competition 2016, happy to be among some beautiful pieces and very stiff competition this year.
I have been lucky enough to be chosen to exhibit at this very special exhibition which is travelling around the country teaching people a bit about all different kinds of enamelling.
A wonderful day at the royal warrant holders luncheon, I spoke with many people on the day including well-known enameller and QEST judge Fiona Rae, Jewellery designer Steven Webster and the team sponsoring me Dengie Crops.
After three levels of judging I have become a Queens scholar! QEST is a group funding over 130 different crafts to help people further study and improve their skills, it is the queens scholarship trust but this is the first year she is becoming a patron. I am honoured to have master enamellers and craftsmen Phil Barnes, Fred Rich and Jane Short agree to take me on for this, this training should help hugely in forwarding my career and allow me the knowledge to teach the next generation. A scholarship is additionally seen as a stamp of excellence that differentiates these craftspeople as exemplary makers. Many QEST Scholars have continued on to become leaders in their field such as Rod Kelly (goldsmith and silversmith); Shem Mackey (musical instrument maker) and Gary Drostle (mosaic artist). Its a winning month at nnjewellery, had a wonderful night at the goldsmiths hall for the #JewelleryOscars, I won a bronze for my scale armour necklace, met loads of fantastic people and had a fun night as always with the goldsmiths team and all the other winners.
This week I was very fortunate to receive Arts & Crafts Design Award Certificate of Excellence for my work. This is a wonderful awards program which chooses the very best craftsmen and artists to enter so it was wonderful to even be given the chance to compete.
I was so impressed with the level of work, i recognised plenty of wonderful people from the industry and i think all the other winners absolutely deserved to be there.
